The following example shows how the Luminance Contrast Assessment Tool (LCAT) can be used to check differing colours against each other to determine if a 30% luminance contrast will be achieved. Each combination can then be compared.

In this case, the wall will be Dulux White Polar Half:

This will be assessed against the following proposed door colours. Any proposed combination must achieve a minimum 30% luminance contrast.

When the LRV values are entered into the multiple comparison sheet of the LCAT we see that only two combinations achieve a 30% luminance contrast.

Centre Dust achieves a 39% luminance contrast.

But the clear winner is Timber Shadow which achieves a 74% luminance contrast.
